Restorative Spaces

As shared offices become increasingly occupied post-pandemic, it begs the question – are our offices equipped to support the needs of a workforce which has navigated such extreme change?

We know the pandemic has dramatically transformed the landscape of work. From research we also know that this has affected our wellbeing, shifting our priorities. We’ve co-authored a miniguide with long-time collaborators Interface Inc., aimed at highlighting the benefits and scalability of designated spaces for restoration. ‘Designing Restorative Spaces’ has been written with the architecture and design community in mind, providing insight, thought leadership, and inspiring examples of how to design restorative spaces within the workplace.

Like our previous guides, ‘Designing Restorative Spaces’ is underpinned by compelling research alongside insights from experts within the field of workplace design and psychology.

Within the guide we discuss:

  • Why are we interested in restorative spaces?
  • What are restorative spaces and why do we need them now?
  • The benefits of restorative spaces
  • How Biophilic Design can help
  • A framework for creating restorative spaces
  • Restorative spaces at a range of scales
