Countdown to COP30: Mobilising Action
for Climate and Nature”
at the Natural History Museum

Oliver reports back from the Countdown to COP30 event he attended last week:

"Thrilled to have attended “Countdown to COP30: Mobilising Action for Climate and Nature” at the Natural History Museum in London last week.

It was a powerful evening, bringing together climate leaders, business innovators, policy makers and scientists, all pushing to turn ambition into action in the six weeks before COP30.

One of the highlights was a five-minute film preview of ‘How To Live On Earth’ by Open Planet Studios, due for release in 2026. A powerful and compelling piece of storytelling, it captured both the fragility and potential of our shared future.

I left reflecting on:

• The urgent need to bridge nature and climate strategies rather than treat them separately

• How design, built environment and materials choices play a real, tangible role in the resilience of ecosystems and communities

• The power and importance of collaboration between sectors to drive lasting impact

• The responsibility on businesses & designers to lead with purpose

COP30 in Belém will demand action rooted in purpose and evidence. Events like this remind me how much thoughtful, inclusive design can contribute to that goal."
